The Board of Trustees announced today that the Rev. Dr. Kah-Jin Jeffrey Kuan accepted their invitation to be the seventh president of Claremont School of Theology, effective July 1, 2013.

Heifer Challenge at Hope UMC, South San Francisco

On Aug. 15, 2010, the Kids and Youth Faith Formation class of Hope UMC, South San Francisco, challenged their pastor, the Rev. Pamela L. Kurtz, to have her head shaved in worship on Halloween Sunday if they could raise $5,000 for a Heifer International "Ark." Conversations with the Bishop

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Psalm 55 verse 22 says to "cast your burden upon the Lord, and God will sustain you; God will never allow the righteous to be shaken." Like you, I have been watching

the devastation caused by tornadoes to our brothers and sisters in Oklahoma. At this time, more than 20 people have been found dead including several children.

The faithful United Methodists of the California-Nevada Annual Conference have always responded in love to people all around the world. I encourage folks in our congregations to respond through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) via the Advance (United Methodist designated giving channel). UMCOR guarantees that 100% of your donation goes directly to the disaster. The UMCOR Advance number for the Oklahoma disaster is #901670, "Disaster Response, United States."
